Description of the Mental Health Literacy in Schools Virtual Online Course for Jamaica:
This is a closed virtual course with tutoring which will involve the use a mixture of synchronous and asynchronous sessions. This course was adapted specifically for use in the Jamaican.
Overall Goal:
To improve mental health literacy of students ages 13 to 16 in schools across Jamaica.
Specific Objectives:
- To adapt the MHLS training of trainers’ course to the online format and to the Jamaican context and mount it on the Virtual Campus of Public Health.
- To prepare a cadre of master trainers from the MOEYI and MOHW that will be able to facilitate the implementation of the Mental Health Literacy in Schools program in Jamaica.
- To facilitate the adaptation of the national Mental Health and High School Curriculum to include elements of the MHLS program.
